This Holy Bible contains ‘The Epistle Dedicatory to the King James Bible’.  In the Epistle Dedicatory, the translators of the King James Bible dedicated their work to King James.  It also gives a brief glimpse into the translation process.  Unfortunately, the Dedicatory is not found in many KJV’s today.

The Queens Printer (known as the King’s Printer during the reign of a male monarch – this Holy Bible was printed early in the reign of Queen Victoria) is responsible for producing official documents issued by the Queen-in-Council, Ministers of the Crown and other departments.  The position is defined by letters patent under the royal prerogative.

On 21 January 1830, Spottiswoode received a 30-year patent as king’s printer.  George E. Eyre and William Spottiswoode became one of the largest printers in London in 1850 with over 200 employees.  Upon the death of Queen Victoria in 1901, they became re-appointed as the Kings Printers.
